Case Study: Mesh Print Signage Solution for Westfield Hurstville’s NAIDOC Week Activation

Client Overview:

Westfield Hurstville partnered with Mesh Print to develop a compelling campaign for NAIDOC Week 2024. The collaboration involved engaging Year 6 students from local primary schools to create original artworks aligned with the theme "Blak, Loud & Proud". Mesh Print was tasked with providing impactful signage solutions for their large-scale activation.

Challenge:

The primary challenge was finding a solution to present 380 artworks in a clear and high-resolution display. Created by children in the classroom, we needed to decipher which media was the best option for scanning and digitising the works. Ultimately design signage that would effectively communicate the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The goal was to engage and educate visitors while honouring the theme of NAIDOC Week.

Solution:

Mesh Print underwent a test process to present the best media solution that would work for all parties involved. We worked closely with the Westfield Hurstville Marketing team to develop a concept tailored to the centre’s project, NAIDOC 2024 and the Westfield branding.

This involved designing, printing, and installing a variety of signage elements tailored specifically for the one-week NAIDOC Week event:

1. Tall Boards: Strategically positioned to maximize visibility, these boards featured custom foamboards secured with unique leather straps designed to complement the artwork.

2. Floor Decals: Applied beneath high-traffic areas, floor decals were meticulously crafted with non-slip lamination to ensure safety while showcasing the students' vibrant designs.

3. Unique Prisms: Utilising innovative prism-shaped plinths, Mesh Print highlighted over 380 student artworks, creating a visually distinct experience within the centre.

Implementation Process:

Mesh Print managed the project from concept to installation, ensuring seamless execution.

• Design: Signage designs were crafted to align with the NAIDOC Week theme, effectively showcasing the students' artworks while maintaining aesthetic appeal and thematic coherence.

• Printing: Leveraging state-of-the-art technology, Mesh Print delivered high-quality prints that vividly portrayed cultural narratives and artwork details, ensuring durability for the duration of the event.

• Installation: With a focus on efficiency and minimal disruption, signage installation was completed promptly to enhance visitor experience and engagement throughout the centre.

Conclusion:

The successful collaboration between Mesh Print and Westfield Hurstville exemplifies our commitment to delivering tailored signage solutions that elevate retail environments.

By leveraging our expertise and industry partnerships, we effectively contributed to a memorable and culturally significant NAIDOC Week celebration.

This case study underscores Mesh Print's capability to enhance brand visibility and community engagement through innovative signage solutions tailored to unique cultural events like NAIDOC Week.
